Snakey

The story

Snakey is older than most phones. This is where it comes from.

Snakey for Windows · 2001–2004

Where it began

Snakey started in 2001 on a Windows PC. Edi Budimilic wrote it in Visual Basic, and it was one of the very first games he made.

It grew release by release at Generation Stars and went out as freeware. The last version, Snakey v1.49.51, came out in 2004. Its rules are still the rules today: food counting down from 99, fresh grass worth points and Mega Bonuses for long streaks.

One thing changed its looks: on the PC, every meal made Snakey drop a poo 💩 at the end of its tail, and eating one cut the tail short. In the new Snakey those are the shrooms.

Every game on the PC could be saved as a replay. The best ones, Edi's and his friends', still play: you will find them below.

Edi's best run, drawn from its replay the way the PC game drew it. On a computer you can play Snakey right here, as it was in 2004: arrows to steer, Enter to start.

The original was made for a keyboard. Open this page on a computer to play it.
